Are you aware that as a club we are active in the local community? These are some of the ways we bring our sport to a wider audience:

School Partnerships: We have in recent years provided an alternative to the standard physical education lessons at Rothwell Primary School and an after-school club at St Andrews C of E school in Kettering. We have last year and this been working with Wilbarston C of E primary school where again we have provided a weekly alternative PE lesson for most age groups. These sessions are held predominately indoors using the club “Arrows – soft archery kits”. Last summer we introduced the year 5 and year 6 pupils to real bows and arrows and established an outside PE lesson for these older age groups. The younger children did not miss out; they were still able to enjoy the indoor archery which was supervised by teaching staff the club had trained. This summer we are continuing with the indoor and outdoor lessons but after request have extended this further with the provision of an after-school club once per week.

Have-a-Go’s, Birthday Parties & Corporate events: Each year we have provided on request different events for different groups. Last year we hosted Doctors & Nurses from Kettering General Hospital who were preparing for their Hospital Olympics, an annual inter hospital competition. We also hosted a group of 20 from the University of the third age, a group of young carers and a large group of ladies from a local golf club and anther from the Women’s Institute. This year we have again another group from the U3A, a local scout pack, another group from the golf club and an event for staff from the West Lodge estate.

If you would like to arrange for your work or friends a have-a-go or a birthday party, please email the coaches at coaching@targetcraft.co.uk who will be pleased to assist you.

Other Schools & Care Homes: In addition to our regular activity at Wilbarston we also support Kingsly Special Academy in Kettering with open days or other special events and introduce archery to groups who might not have access. We also take our Arrows soft archery system into Kettering care homes where archery has become a popular event in the recreation rooms.

Disability Support: We have designed and introduced specific beginners’ courses tailored to individual archers and their ability or disability. We work closely with the British Wheelchair Archery Society to learn and implement best practice, and we provide on-going coaching support outside of official club sessions.
